What happens at a service?

We celebrate God in an inclusive, loving environment. Sunday services are inspiring and positive, and they provide you with practical tools to live a spiritually centered life! You’ll experience great music and  friendly people, and the messages you hear will help you deal with the real-life issues you face during the week. Each service also includes a short guided meditation followed by a few minutes of silent contemplation.

What happens when I am a first-time visitor?

We invite you to stop by our self-service Welcome Station to browse brochures and materials about Unity. You are welcome you to take this information home with you. We invite you to complete a registration card, which will help us to keep you connected to information about programs and services we offer. If you have email, we will add you to our distribution list for our email announcements, if you wish. No one will call you or stop by your home unless you specifically request a call or visit. Your contact information will never be shared or sold. We make every attempt to protect your privacy.

denimWhat do I wear?

We are a welcoming community with a casual environment. Most of us will be dressed casually. Several people like to dress in their Sunday best. We welcome any style that makes you feel comfortable.

What denomination are you?

We are a member of Unity Worldwide Ministries. Unity was founded in the 1890s as part of a wave of new denominations that sought a positive, practical, progressive approach to Christianity. We are also trans-denominational, in that we honor and study the universal truths in all religions and respect each individual’s right to choose a spiritual path. While we look to Jesus as our master teacher and wayshower, we also enjoy exploring the wisdom of the Buddha, the Tao, Hinduism, and more. We view ourselves as a movement in consciousness, rather than as a religion. Please read What is Unity? to learn more about our beliefs.

I have children; do you have activities for them during your services?

We welcome infants and children of all ages. Our Youth and Family Ministry program creates an affirming environment that fosters positive self-image, personal responsibility, and unconditional love and acceptance. We teach children to meditate and pray, and we invite children to experience a loving God. Learn more about our programs for youth.

How do I get involved?

There are many ways to get connected with Unity of Columbia’s church family. Please check the current Calendar to find out what’s happening this month. Nearly every class, workshop, and group meeting is open to the public. Volunteer opportunities within one of our church teams also abound. We invite you to explore our Ministry Teams, which offer fellowship and opportunities for meaningful service with others who share your interests.
